STOP & SHOP ALERTS CUSTOMERS TO VOLUNTARY RECALL OF BADIA GROUND CUMIN
Purchase, NY & Quincy, MA (March 13, 2015) – Following a recall by Badia Spices, Inc., The Stop & Shop Supermarket Company LLC announced it removed from sale Badia Ground Cumin products which may contain peanut, an allergen that is not listed on the ingredient label. These products are safe to consume for individuals who do not suffer from a peanut allergy.
The following product is included in this recall:
- Badia Ground Cumin, 2 oz., UPC 03384400007, lot number 116837 with a best by date of 7/2019
- Badia Ground Cumin, 7 oz., UPC 03384400002, lot number 117151 with a best by date of 7/2019
- Badia Ground Cumin, 16 oz., UPC 03384400516, lot number 116696 with a best by date of 7/2019
Stop & Shop has received no reports of illnesses to date. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to peanuts may run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products. Symptoms of food allergies typically appear from within a few minutes to two hours after a person has eaten the food to which he or she is allergic. Allergic reactions can include: hives; flushed skin or rash; tingling or itchy sensation in the mouth; face, tongue, or lip swelling; vomiting and/or diarrhea; abdominal cramps; coughing or wheezing; dizziness and/or lightheadedness; swelling of the throat and vocal cords; difficulty breathing; loss of consciousness.
Customers who have purchased this product should discard any unused portions and bring their purchase receipt to Stop & Shop for a full refund.
