STOP & SHOP ALERTS CUSTOMERS TO VOLUNTARY RECALL OF SELECT PALMER CANDY PRODUCTS

Purchase, NY & Quincy, MA (January 10, 2017) - Following a recall by Palmer Candy Company, The Stop & Shop Supermarket Company LLC announced it removed from sale Palmer Candy Holiday Gift Bowls due to potential Salmonella contamination.

The following product is included in this recall:

  • Palmer Candy Holiday Gift Bowl, 22 oz, UPC 7723217285 with Expiration dates between 4/18/2017 – 5/1/2017

Stop & Shop has received no reports of illnesses to date. Consumption of food contaminated with Salmonella can cause salmonellosis, one of the most common bacterial foodborne illnesses. Salmonella infections can be life-threatening, especially to those with weak immune systems, such as infants, the elderly and persons with HIV infection or undergoing chemotherapy. The most common manifestations of salmonellosis are diarrhea, abdominal cramps, and fever within eight to 72 hours. Additional symptoms may be chills, headache, nausea and vomiting that can last up to seven days.

Customers who have purchased this product should discard any unused portions and bring their purchase receipt to Stop & Shop for a full refund.

Purchase, NY & Quincy, MA (June 20, 2017) - Following a recall by Hummus Gourmet, LLC, the Stop & Shop Supermarket Company LLC announced it removed from sale a limited number of Lantana white bean hummus products due to the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.

The following products are included in this recall:

  • Lantana White Bean Hummus with Pine Nuts, 10 oz., UPC 896863001434 with an expiration date between 19 JUN 2017 – 15 AUG 2017

Stop & Shop has received no reports of illnesses to date. Listeria is a common organism found in nature. Consumption of food contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes can cause listeriosis, an uncommon but potentially fatal disease. Healthy people rarely contract listeriosis. However, listeriosis can cause high fever, severe headache, neck stiffness and nausea. Listeriosis can also cause miscarriages and stillbirths, as well as serious and sometimes fatal infections in those with weakened immune systems, such as infants, the elderly and persons with HIV infection or undergoing chemotherapy.

Customers who have purchased these products should discard any unused portions and bring their purchase receipt to Stop & Shop for a full refund.
